The Dearborn Public Library Foundation enjoys assisting our libraries with the restoration and renewal of furniture, technology and much more, whenever it is needed. The DPLF works on projects for all of the Dearborn libraries every couple years.
2015 – Renovation of the Teen Zone area
The Teen Zone at the Henry Ford Centennial Library was rehabbed and enhanced by the Foundation and reopened in June 2015.
2013 – New Furniture for Meeting Rooms
Twenty-five modern adjustable chairs were purchased with Foundation funding in July of 2013. They were installed in the Quiet Rooms on the third floor and the individual study/discussion rooms.
2011 – Ballot Issue for Library Millage
The Foundation funded yard signs and other publicity supporting the November 2011 ballot issue for 1 mill in new funding dedicated to the Dearborn Libraries. This support significantly contributed to successful passage of the millage.
2011 – Furniture Donation for New Rooms at HFCL
The Ford Motor Company donation in 2011 of a portion of the furniture to initially furnish the five new meeting rooms on the third floor at HFCL was facilitated by the Foundation.
2010 – Early literacy computers for the Children’s area at the branch libraries
In 2010, the Foundation funded the purchase of early literacy computers and software for the Children’s area at each of the branch libraries. These top-rated machines were designed specifically for children from toddlers to second grade.
2008 /2010- Renovation of the Children’s and Youth areas at the Henry Ford Centennial Library
The Library Foundation funded the remodeling of the Children’s area at the Henry Ford Centennial Library (HFCL) in 2008 and the Youth Activity Room at HFCL, used for programs for youth of all ages.
