Educators Fostering Future Readers Contest

. January 29, 2018

We at the Dearborn Public Library Foundation are thrilled that educators in Dearborn have worked so hard to enhance literacy, particularly with regard to the three, Big Read projects at the Dearborn Public Library. First came Jack London, then Edgar Allan Poe, and now Jhumpa Lahiri.

For several years, our foundation has sponsored an essay contest for high school students to further literacy as well. While discussing how we might expand our efforts to reach more students, we decided to offer a contest for elementary classroom teachers, rather than already highly motivated students.

This year we are offering elementary-school teachers a contest whereby up to three educators can each win $1,000 as well as a classroom set of their selected books. Please see the attached document for submission guidelines.
