Charitable Donations

The Dearborn Library Foundation thanks and honors friends and supporters by recognizing their contributions.

For contributions which purchase specific items on the Library Foundation’s future projects list, permanent recognition will be placed on the item or in its nearest proximity. Such gifts can be used to honor or memorialize individuals, families, or businesses.

A Donor Wall will be located at the Henry Ford Centennial Library and will permanently recognize donors who contribute $5,000 and above. Tribute is also paid to persons in whose memory or honor such a gift is donated.

Bequest in Will or Living Trust

A bequest is a gift or legacy left in your will or living trust, typically personal property or assets. A living trust is a revocable trust established by a grantor during his or her lifetime in which the grantor transfers some or all of his or her property into the trust.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

A type of trust that pays one or more beneficiaries a fixed amount, typically for life, then the balance to Dearborn Library Foundation.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust

A type of trust that pays one or more beneficiaries a variable income for life, then the balance to the Dearborn Library Foundation.

Charitable Gift Annuity

The Charitable Gift Annuity combines your gift to the Dearborn Library Foundation with an annuity which the Foundation purchases on your behalf through a licensed insurance company. Your guaranteed annuity payments will continue throughout your lifetime, unaffected by changes in the economy or interest rates.

If you wish, the annuity can be written to cover you and your spouse through your lifetimes. The exact amount of your annuity will depend on your age, the size of your contribution and the annuity rates in effect at the time of your gift. Depending on your age, a portion of your annuity payments will be tax-free.

Older individuals will receive entirely tax-free payments plus a donation receipt. The portion of your contribution not required for the annuity will be used by the Dearborn Library Foundation as you direct.
It could be put to immediate use or invested until it grows to equal your original contribution.

Charitable Lead Trust

A type of trust that pays income to the Dearborn Library Foundation, typically for a set number of years. Then the trust remainder is payable to the grantor or his or her family.
